“BJP Leader Slams Kangana Ranaut for Farm Law Remarks”
BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has criticized his party’s MP, Kangana Ranaut, for her recent statements on the three farm laws. Shergill thanked the BJP for distancing itself from her “consistent rant and illogical statements,” as reported by ANI.
This is the second time in two months that Ranaut’s remarks on the 2020-21 farmers’ agitation have led her party to step in and make her retract her comments. Shergill expressed his gratitude to the BJP for separating itself from Ranaut’s views, adding that her statements should not create doubts about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relationship with the people of Punjab.
“As a Punjabi, I must say that Kangana Ranaut’s baseless and illogical statements against the Sikh community and Punjab farmers are damaging the good work done by PM Modi for the welfare of Punjab,” Shergill told ANI.
The BJP made it clear that Ranaut’s statement on the farm laws is her personal opinion and does not reflect the party’s views. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stated that the party disapproves of her comments.
Facing backlash from both the BJP and opposition, Ranaut issued a clarification on social media, saying, “My views on the Farmers Laws are personal and do not represent the party’s stand. Thanks.”
Ranaut’s comments on the farm laws are not new. In August, she stirred controversy by suggesting that the farmers’ protests could have led to a situation similar to Bangladesh’s crisis if the government had not taken strong measures.
