Malgudi Days(1986) - One of the most famous old TV serial show on Doordarshan based on the work of R.K. Narayan Malgudi Days has been one of the indian style TV serial which was loved and remembered by people of all age groups. 3. Dekh Bhai Dekh(1993) - Dekh Bhai Dekh was a Hindi sitcom which premiered on Doordarshan's metro channel. That was one of the most comedy serial at that point of time. 4. Vikram Aur Betaal(1985) - Vikram Aur Betaal was a television program that aired on DD National. The series contained stories from Indian mythology that aim at teaching kids life lessons while entertaining them. 5. Ramayan(1987-88) - Ramayan is one of the oldest and popular tv show on Indiatelevision. Primarily based on ram Charit Manas (the story of lord Ram journey) 6. Chandrakanta(1994-96) - Chandrakanta is the story of eternal love set against the battle and strife between two kingdoms Naugarh and Vijaygarh. Virendra Vikram Singh (Prince of Naugarh) and Chandrakanta (Princess of Vijaygarh) are deeply in love, but long for each other due to the enmity between their kingdoms. 7. Shanti(1994) - Shanti - Ek Aurat Ki Kahani was a Indian television series that aired on DD National in 1994. The series stars Mandira Bedi as Shanti in the main lead. The show is one of the first Indian television drama series, has received a considerable cult status and is considered a classic. 8. Mahabharat (1988-90) - This is also most popular tv series in Indian history. This is based on Mahabharat (The story of kauravas and panadavas). Produced by BR Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra, Mahabharat was a hit among its viewers, who never missed a single episode and watched it every sunday very religiously. 9. Rangoli(1992) - Rangoli was an Indian music television series aired on DD National every sunday morning. During its first few seasons, the show was hosted by Bollywood actresses Hema Malini. This show is the longest show in Indian tv history. 10. Ducktales(1995) - Doordarshan was the only channel till 1995 that had managed to put a big smile on the faces of kids. When they started a Ducktales cartoon in Hindi.
